The falling dream

Pierrepoint was my hangman, he was in from out of town, said do you like your duties? He said "Boy do you see me crying and do you see these feathers in my cap, they signify each and every man I've dropped, you think I have no conscience? Think as you will, your soul goes in the jar."
Just like the bible said it would.

He then left my cell, made his final preparations. I and the rest heard the rumours, how he could weigh a man just by shaking on his hand and there upon my table lay my poor mother's bible, the only thing that she could gift this son - St Matthew 7 verses 21, just like the bible said she would.

I awoke to my worries, the screw, the key, the door.
The priest he marched me thirteen short steps, all the world, it's a stage that's for sure.
My hands and my legs were restrained, your kerchief becomes my hood.
The lever and the pin, the falling dream complete.

Then Christ put his arms all around me, and the angels of the lord then receive me. I flew towards the pink and the glow, it became fire on my approach and in the eternal pyre my Godless victims lake of fire and me up here in heaven, I took the time to be forgiven.
